So why bother making your character look good? Why make your armour match? Crafting is a big part of the game and it’s reduced in importance if you can’t see the armour you’ve spent a few hours collecting materials for. Weirdly one disappointed was actually being VR stops you from seeing you character. The story hasn’t changed so for anyone coming new to the world will have hours of intrigue and decisions to have to make, to change certain outcomes of the story. The ability to hold two swords or a bow and arrow, was a childhood dream coming true.

The sensation of being in a world which I known intimately but only through a TV screen was amazing. I’ve played countless hours in the original game and converting in VR I was not disappointed. Massive open world fantasy adventure with huge amounts of back story and depth. You have to be a bit ginger on the sticks though when not running your ass off so you can enjoy the view.Skyrim is a classic game. The combination of using a DS4 with smooth movement (right + left and forward + backward on the sticks + teleport + head aim is a wicked fun combo for me. I am not sure how different that would be on a non pro.

The graphics are good enough for a very good experience on a PS4 pro.

With all the little easter eggs they put in with the classic levels and rooms you can go into just to look at the monster models up close while they are still are nice touches. Skyrim is cool but the color pallet is a little bland and Doom VFR is such a visual treat. It's not perfect but it's the best VR experience I have had this far. I am guessing they didn't want to block too much of the forward view but it looks like you're running around with two gun erections. It's not a big deal but looks a little strange. The gun animations are kind of skinny looking as they stick out from your torso. I feel like they should release that as a standalone VR demo almost. Playing the classic levels in VR was so cool, weapons from VFR and a mix of baddies, the original textures in VR is fun. I can tell some love went into this VR version. I took a lot of extra damage because I was gawking at monsters as they were pounding on me. The sense of scale and depth is crazy cool. Being in the game and I mean IN THE GAME is a fucking trip.

Performance on my PS4 Pro was very good - I only felt some stutter in one place and the graphics were obviously not ultra nightmare quality on a 4k display but they were good enough to have an awesome gaming experience. (teleport is sort of a "jump" button replacement and more) I love the fact that you can still teleport with smooth locomotion controls too so you can whip around fast as shit using both and telefragging the fuck out of baddies when you want to. So I think.dare I say.I actually prefer this control scheme. Playing FPS games on the DS4 controller was never my favorite due to aiming accuracy but in VR mode problem solved. I used the DS4 controller as I don't care for the move controllers much unless I have to use them.

It took me a while to get my bearings and I flipped all the controls to full smooth locomotion (no snap turn) which I guess makes some people sick but I am fine with it. So I finally got to play this for a good while this weekend on my PS4 Pro and it's totally wicked.
